IMOO (Ironman Wisconsin) Expensive Training Day Report

Last Sunday Ironman Wisconsin 2008 took place in Madison, Wisconsin. The past three years it has been a big Endure It! club event. So 364 days before IMOO 2008 (the Monday after 2007's race) I woke up at 3:00am to drive to Madison in order to wait in one of the most impressive lines I've ever seen. Eventually, after much waiting and just as much mingling I recieved my reserved spot in IMOO 2008. After qualifying for Hawaii in May, I made the decision not to "race" Wisconsin, rather I would treat it as a long, very expensive ($500) training day. I only completed a total of 128.4 miles, which comes out to about $3.89 per mile. The week leading up to the race I logged a couple nice longer, low intensity workouts as well as one interval session on the Computrainer of which I have been keepeing the same intensity the past 3 weeks, but simply subtracting a couple minutes off the interval: Monday 3:40 moderate/easy ride Tue Off Wed 65min easy run on lake Thur 1:45 CT 35min wu 4x5' @210(last 2' @ 220) 3x1' @ 240 - 3.5mi run from york home Fri 4.5 mi run 600y swim Sat 30min easy ride with Dobes 1.5mi jog 300y swim Sun IM Wisconsin swim: 1:04:57 bike:5:21:31 run: (13mi @ 1:34:38) (7:13 pace for 13.1 mi) 14mi total Below is a picture of Brian... Seems as if he is pulling a couple slackers along with him just as he does on the Saturday rides. A couple weeks ago he showed up and basically pulled the group for 65 miles at about 25mph, dropping a good portion of the pack as he made his way around the loop.

Here are a few more photos courtosy of Dave I. and Kessie B. There never ended up being any snakes in the water despite the slowtwitch rumors. Jill Noel
