Hawaii bike check in is an event in itself. You can see on the far side of the fences, guys in chairs lined up all along the path to transition. accompanying your bike into transtion gives one the sensation they are walking down the red carpet... except there is no carpet, besides the grey Ironman stuff, and nobody cares about you, they're only there to record what kind of bikes, wheel sets, components, helmets, shifters, tires, aerobars, ect pass by them.
Everyone checking in their gear gets a personal assistant who takes them through transition, explains the path one will take at T1 and T2, and helps set up gear bags.
Rain at the Awards Banquet, thousands of people began putting chairs on their heads.
