Which Ironman North America event is the most difficult? Above are the times from 2008 at each Ironman in North America (1st place, 20th place, and 100th place). Simply looking at finishing times, one would assume IM Hawaii is the easiest event and IM Louisville is the hardest. This data does not take into consideration the caliber of athlete at the event/prize money available, month, terrain, weather, drafting/cheaters/guys with swim fins, ect. Wonder what would happen if IM Florida hosted the World championships. We would probably see the top 20 or more well under 8 hours.
